A whole food protein bar that you can enjoy as dessert, a wholesome snack, or an on-the-go breakfast. Packed with healthy fats, fibre, protein, and volume from the juicy berries, this vibrant recipe is nutritious and tast.

How do these bars fit The Fundamental Four?

It is fun to make homemade almond butter if you have the patience, and a powerful food processor!

  • 1 cup (100g) pitted dates
  • 2 cups (160g) oats
  • 3/4 cup (185g) almond butter 
  • 4 Tbsp (30g) ground flax seeds
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 cups (250g) Greek or Skyr yogurt
  • 1 cup (140g) frozen mixed berries


  1. Stew the frozen berries by adding them to a small sauce pan on medium heat until the berries have thawed and the juices are released.
  2. In a food processor or powerful blender, blend the dates until a thick paste forms. 
  3. Add the oats, cinnamon, flax, and almond butter to the dates and blend until combined, scraping down the sides as needed.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a parchment lined baking sheet/pan pressing down to create a firm base.
  5. Spread the Greek/Skyr yogurt over the base covering evenly.
  6. Place the berries on top of the yogurt in small patches and use a knife or fork to swirl into the yogurt.
  7. Place in the freezer and let set for 1-2 hours, or until the bars are solid enough to cut. 
  8. Let thaw for 5 minutes, cut into 12 squares and enjoy!
